2013 CLCF Grant Winners

CLCF Grants Offered To Six Applicants

The Central Linn Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling $2,500 to six local programs which had applied in February and March of 2013. The organization is offering the second year of grants after organizing and obtaining tax exempt status as a non-profit organization in 2011. Two applicants were denied grants this year.

Last year four grants totaling $1,500 were awarded to the Brownsville Senior Center, Central Linn Harvesters, the Brownsville Library, and the Central Linn Rec Center. The Senior Center used the funds, with other funding, to purchase the automatic door openers at 343 N. Main Street. The CL Harvesters used the funding to supplement fees for participants in their food program. The Brownsville Library purchased a piece of equipment to make library displays, and the CL Rec Center built benches for the new baseball diamond in Pioneer Park.

The grants this year have been awarded to the following organizations.

The Central Linn Harvesters: $500 for funding travel mileage for food collection and distribution to members who need the assistance.

The Learning Tree of Sharing Hands: $500 for funding tuition for families who cannot afford the services otherwise and/or for other needed items for this preschool program.

The Linn County Pioneer Picnic Association: $400, for computer equipment for the Picture Gallery and the storing of historic photographs electronically.

The Packsnack Program: $500 for food and supplies for Central Linn students to receive food for the weekends, where it is needed. This program is co-sponsored by the Central Linn School District, Sharing Hands, the Halsey United Methodist Church and the Central Linn Lion’s Club.

Outdoor School of CL School District and Calapooia Watershed Council: $500 for tuition for 6th grade students whose families cannot afford it otherwise.

LBCC Halsey Preschool Co-op: $100 for a cart to transport play equipment to the CLES playground daily.

Each is asked to sign a contract and to report the results of their grant when it is completed.

The Central Linn Community Foundation (CLCF) strives to support projects that benefit the diverse population in the Central Linn area. It is solely supported through donations, gifts and bequests.

The public is encouraged to donate to CLCF by sending a check to CLCF, PO Box 4, Brownsville, Oregon, 97327, deliver the donation to Key Bank, or via “Click and Pledge” on the website www.centlinncf.org. Half of the funds received each year is used the following year for grants and the goal this year is $7,000 so $3,500 worth of grants can be offered in 2014.

Formal presentations will be made at the Queen’s Coronation at Pioneer Picnic on the evening of June 21, 2013.
