The meeting was called to order by Kathy at 3:00 p.m.
The minutes of the April meeting were approved as presented.
Wendy gave the treasurer’s report. She paid Vance $476 for work on the website. She also paid the Oregon Charities annual fee of $27 and sent in the annual state report. The report was accepted as presented.
Kathy asked if we would be capable of managing a non 501(c) (3) organizations funds if they got grant money given to them. It was decided that we could, but we would rather not, since it would be a lot of paperwork for us.
Grant applications were discussed. There was a brief discussion on whether we should fund capital improvement requests. It was decided that capital improvements are not a high priority for us as far as funding is concerned, but we could do so. The following grants were awarded:
- Sharing Hands – $3,200.00 for maintenance work on the Thrift Store.
- Halsey Library – $400.00 for a new heat pump.
- Central Linn Elementary School PTC – $500 for replacing playground equipment.
- Brownsville Garden Club – $700 for watering flower barrels.
- Linn County Museum Friends – $1,700.00 for Stand By Me Day.
Note: On May 5th the Board learned that the Central Linn Recreation Center had dropped an application off at the Times office the previous week, which we did not get until after our May 4th meeting. They were requesting $1,000 for first aid kits. Through a series of emails (see attached), it was decided that since it was not their fault that the Board did not get the application in time, that we would grant them the requested funds. Therefore, total grant awards for 2022 are $7,500.00 and not $6,500 as decided at the previous meeting.
Mary reported that Facebook is up and running.
Kathy reported that Lance will write articles for projects.
Participation in community events was discussed. We will have brochures and possibly bookmarks. We will possibly participate in Pioneer Picnic and Stand By Me Day. This will be discussed at the June meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 3:40p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Chenoweth Robertson, Secretary
